Agrium Inc. (Agrium) is a retailer of agricultural products and services in both the United States and Argentina, and a global producer and wholesale marketer of nutrients for agricultural and industrial markets. The Company operates in three business segments: Retail, North America Wholesale and South America Wholesale. In January 2006, the Company created an operating segment, Specialty Products. Through its 254 retail centers in the United States, Argentinaand Chile, as of December 31, 2005, Agrium provides fertilizers, crop protection products, seeds and agronomic services to farmers. Agrium produces a range of nutrients, including nitrogen, potash and phosphate. Nitrogen-based fertilizers are produced in Alberta, Canada, and at five plants located at Carseland, Fort Saskatchewan, Joffre, Redwater and Standard/Granum. Agrium is a 50% participant in the Profertil S.A. joint venture.
