The BC Bioenergy Network acts as a catalyst for deploying near-term bio energy technologies and organizes mission-driven research for the development and demonstration of sustainable technologies that will position BC as a bioenergy leader. BC is well positioned to become a major player in the global bioenergy sector. The province is steward to one of the largest forested areas in the world and a leader in biomass to value-added wood products. The BC Bioenergy Network provides leadership to suppport BC to become a world leader in developing and marketing wood-to-bio energy and other bioenergy technologies. Established in April 2008 with a $25 million grant from the BC government, the mandate of the BC Bioenergy Network is to maximize the value of BC’s biomass resources, develop mission-driven research, development and demonstration projects, reduce GHG emissions, network and partner in BC, Canada, and internationally to advance BC’s bioenergy sector and to lever funding to support BC-focused bioenergy technology and applications.
