The Bookworm was started in 1978. It moved to its present location in 1986 . It was sold in 2008 to its present owner. The yarn store (Silkworm) was added in 2008 and a uHaul rental was added in 2011.

There are over 75,000 used and rare books on the shelves.

The Silkworm is the yarn store section. It sells notions, yarn, fiber, spinning wheels and looms. The Silkworm also teaches knitting, spinning, tatting, weaving and crochet. We sell notions, wool and fiber for all types of crafting needs.We are a retailer of Louet and Babe spinning wheels and accessories. We also sell Ashford and Schacht wheels and looms via our sister store Designs in Textles.

We do demos in full historical garb for reenactments and school demonstrations.
