Our history dates back to May 7, 1885, the date it is believed the first edition of The Green River Republican was published. The first confirmed issue of the paper is dated Aug. 27, 1885, and is edition no. 17 of the first volume.

The Banner-Republican is the flagship paper for Jobe Publishing, Inc., publisher of six newspapers and three magazines in the South Central Kentucky region.
