With a corporate heritage that dates back nearly 70 years ago, Central Power Systems has an established history, a solid founder-driven spirit and a culture that blends tradition and innovation. In 1944 Jack Finn and Harry Gardner established Gardner, Inc. to distribute automotive products. Soon after its founding, Gardner began to distribute air-cooled engines and parts and allied lawn & garden products. In 1985, with the growth and success of Briggs & Stratton, a need was a recognized for a more singular approach in the support of the Briggs & Stratton service business. And so in 1985, Central Power Systems was established to place a more concentrated focus on the marketing and distribution of Briggs & Stratton engines and service parts.
