Digital Services in London
We aim to supply professional goods and services to the photographic, fine art, gallery and exhibition communities, utilising our combined experience and self-imposed high standards to always give our customers the best quality goods and service at all times.
Chaudigital has grown and developed from 'Danny Chau Photolabs' (est 1983), a black & white professional photographic laboratory based in London's EC1 'Photographic Mile'. Printing for clients such as The (BBC) Hulton Picture Library (now Hulton Getty), The National Gallery, The Royal Family, Open Society Institute, The Guardian Observer Newspaper Group, and renowned photographers such as Humphrey Spender, Bob Carlos Clarke, Mike Goldwater, Vibeke Dahl and many others, the company quickly gained a reputation for top quality film processing and printing in the UK's black & white photographic industry.
We are determined to provide you, the customer, with a high quality service and overall pleasant experience. We try to test all our products before we sell them (though sometimes there are never enough hours in the day!) so that we know the quality and reliability, and perhaps any foibles! We are a family run business with a strong commitment to real customer service. Realising the potential of digital technology, Danny then decided to invest into digital printing. With personal experience developed in computers since 1983 and digital imaging since 1989, Danny installed one of the UK's first Epson 9000 large format inkjet printers in April 1998, and an Imacon Flextight scanner in May 2000 to meet demand. With this, the company provided high-quality digital imaging services to clients both in the UK and abroad. Seeing there was a gap in quality digital imaging suppliers, in 2002 the company changed its name from Danny Chau Photolabs to Chaudigital, to focus on complete high quality digital imaging solutions for professionals. It also introduced on-demand fine-art gicleé printing and duplication services, and launched a consumer digital imaging website Paperandinks.com to supply end-users with top quality goods. Today it remains a family run business, becoming a limited company in January 2007, and continues to strive to provide great products and services for the discerning professional and enthusiast alike.
We produce fine art prints for exhibitions, galleries, professional photographers, publishers, artists, students and private individuals, using a stochastic pigment ink process on a range of acid-free archival and proofing mediums as well as lower cost non-archival stock. When it comes to Edition Printing you need the confidence of working with people who understand the challenges and have the solutions to digitally capture, visually match and produce beautiful and faithful museum grade prints, on demand, time and time again; in fact Chaudigital was one of the first companies to introduce this service in the UK. We also have fulfillment services which can include recording of edition numbers and sending of prints to the customer anywhere in the world.
Our in-house film scanning service utilises an Imacon Flextight Precision 949 virtual drum scanner capable of handling film from 35mm up to 5 x 4". The resulting files are suitable for the highest quality fine art and exhibition prints, with excellent sensitivity for capturing fine shadow and highlight detail. Flatbed scanning is also available and can accommodate A3 pieces while digital capture of larger or deeper dimensioned works is available upon request.
We provide digital retouching, stylising, correction and manipulation for clients' photographs and artwork including restoration of old photographs. The process can be as subtle or as drastic as the work requires but we will always take your ideas and apply them to your images with the greatest sensitivity and care.
Prices are charged per hour or part thereof. Please call 020 7833 3938 or email for more information or a quote. You can also call in at our London showroom to see printed examples and discuss your project requirements without obligation.
Colour management is the process of linearising and profiling a digital imaging system and its associated components for throughput and output. It is an important practise to implement for users who work with digital images on a daily basis.
Colour management normally consists of both a hardware and software solution for an existing computer system (ie. PC or Mac) and will allow you to consistently produce accurate prints and output files that are within industry standard colour spaces.
