Dunn’s Tailors opened its doors in Vancouver in 1936. Shortly after it opened its doors Clarence and George Conn acquired the company from its owners The Miller Clothing Co. of Montreal. In its early days the Conn brothers established Dunn’s as the leading tailored to measure company in Western Canada. Thousands of British Columbians both male and female had their tailor made clothing measured by the Conn brothers.
In fashion styles change and tailored to measure clothing became less popular with the introduction of designer labels from Europe. Dunn’s changed with the times and maintained it’s tailored to measure while adding ready-made designer labels from Europe.
In 1981 with retirement looming the Conn brothers sold their beloved business to their store manager Robert Smith. Mr. Smith began a transition of the business in the original Dunn’s location at 390 West Hastings St. After fifty-nine years at this location Dunn’s relocated to the heritage Rogers Building at 480 Granville to establish its twelve thousand square foot flag ship store. Additional locations have been added over the years resulting in Dunn’s becoming the largest independent menswear retailer in the province. Dunn’s has evolved from its tailored beginnings to a leader in today’s menswear retailing.
Mr. Robert Smith as President of the company and his son Jordan Smith as General Manager continue to search the world for new and exciting fashion collections. In addition to our more traditional clothing Dunn’s offers an extensive collection of sportswear, outerwear, jeans, accessories, dress shirts, ties and shoes. Dunn’s is truly a one stop shop for all of your clothing needs.
