Friend of the earth promotes sustainable agriculture and Farming Methods through their certification & by awarding consumers in Italy and all over the world. The Friend of the earth certification scheme for sustainable agriculture & farming was the first initiative by Paolo Bray, founder, and director of the world sustainability organization & developed according to SAFA (Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture systems) guidelines issued by the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization). It is based on principles that are basically focused on protection and conservation of ecosystems for promoting biological control, livestock biodiversity and genetic heritage to foster a close link between animals and territory.
