In the fruit growing area of Fruit Modena Group there are apple orchards too. Until a few decades ago, the main crop here was apples. The apples were then mostly supplanted by pears when the high standards the latter had achieved became evident.

The apples are produced to be eaten raw and also for the processing industry to produce distillates. Particularly sweet tasting, the apples from this growing area are characterized by a slightly rusty skin; moreover, the red varieties hardly ever reach a high percentage of colored surface, except in years with high temperature changes between night and day, or in sandy soils near the Secchia River.

The yield reaches 2,000 tons and includes green-skinned varieties (Granny Smith), yellow-skinned (of the Golden group) and red-skinned (Empire, Fuji, Red Chief, Gala group, Stayman).
