The Johnson County Museum of History houses over 20,000 objects, photographs, records, and documents relating to Johnson County's past and present.

The Johnson County Historical Society was founded in 1923. The former Masonic Temple building, the museum's home since 1992, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.
