This interface module enables the acquisition of results directly from the instrument via RS232 connectivity, or by file output from the instrument's controlling PC. Data can also be sent from WinLims to the controlling PC or instrument, enabling the automatic creation of sample queues or transmission of application / instrument commands to control the instrument. The configuration of each instrument interface is easily carried out by the laboratory user aided by a wizard that guides the user through the set-up process in clearly defined steps. There is significant flexibility and options available within the module to cater for most instruments used within laboratories and the preferred modes of operation, such as fully automated or semi-automated. In fully automated mode, once the interface is configured data acquisition is carried out with no further user intervention. Semi-automated is the mode used for those laboratories which need to review the results before updating the WinLims database.
