Charities and Charitable Organisations in Perth
We are the leading charity Furniture Re-Use Project in the Perth & Kinross district of Scotland. It is our privilege to provide this very practical service, whilst also being able to help people in our direct care (at Skinnergate Lifehouse) and in the wider community.
This becomes even more relevant with the next phase of the project, which is to develop a workshop within the existing warehouse to repair, restore, renovate and even build furniture. The aim is to gain as much public and private sponsorship to enable the workshop to be set up and run effectively without having to put too big a drain on Salvation Army resources. This workshop will then enable the project to accommodate a great deal more of the residents to work on furniture either for personal use or resale. At the very least, it will increase their skills base and be a valuable addition to their CV’s, thus further developing the resettlement end of the project.
The Project began in 2004 and has grown and developed since. In April 2011 the Project came under the management of the Perth Corps of the Salvation Army, specifically the Community Manager. The aim is to support the Corps and their work in Perth and the surrounding area. We do this through providing a reuse service, which includes both furniture and a charity shop on our site in Friarton. The Project is open to all members of the public.
We are pleased to be able to offer discounts to people in receipt of benefits. There are different scales to these discounts and it should be noted that we do not receive any back funding for these discounts – they are simply offered from our desire to help people.
