Seftec, Inc. is a Georgia small business S corporation developing computer technologies in Internet bioinformatics and education using Avatars in 3D virtual worlds. SBIR proposals have been submitted to NSF, NIH, DOD and DARPA for R&D biotechnology in areas of cancer informatics, biosurveillance, and PTSD cyber-therapy. While in academia, the PI developed web-enhanced and virtual world laboratory learning modules for Environmental Biology, and presented this experience at a NSF Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) conference in 2008. Seftec, Inc. received a NSF SBIR Phase I award in 2010 to develop Internet learning technologies and software tools to utilize Second Life, a virtual world, for increasing instructor effectiveness.
