The company incorporated in 1975 in Lincoln, NE as Smeloff, Inc. dba Smeloff Teleproductions (STV) produced commercials, training videos and developed several television series. STV moved to Denver, Colorado in 1981 and operated until it was sold to KDS, Inc. in 1984. Nick Smeloff retained the name and continued production services until 1993. The company is no longer in business.

STV produced The American Trail starring Don Jacks in a series of grass-roots vignettes that celebrates the U. S. through its people. Over 800 episodes were produced in the late 1970s and early 80s
